The origin of our chestnuts
Our chestnuts come from traditional forests and farms where chestnut trees have been grown for generations. The cool climate of northern and central Spain allows chestnuts to ripen slowly, developing their natural sweetness and smooth texture.
We work with small local producers who handpick, carefully select each fruit and uphold environmentally respectful farming practices. Thanks to this, our chestnuts arrive at your home fresh, aromatic and of the highest quality.
Artisans with passion: the secret behind real flavour
Every Tropitop chestnut box reflects the passion of farmers who care for their chestnut trees throughout the year. Their dedication ensures an authentic, seasonal product free from artificial handling.
By choosing them, you support local agriculture, encourage fair trade and enjoy a traditional food that is part of our gastronomic heritage.
How to prepare chestnuts & recommended recipes
Chestnuts are extremely versatile, easy to prepare and perfect for both sweet and savoury dishes. Here are several ways to enjoy them:
- Oven-roasted chestnuts (the classic): Make a cut on each chestnut, place them on a tray and bake for 20–25 minutes at 200°C. They become tender, aromatic and perfect to enjoy hot.
- Pan-roasted or fire-roasted chestnuts: Use a perforated pan or a regular pan over medium heat. Shake occasionally until the skin opens and the flesh becomes tender.
- Boiled chestnuts: Boil for 20–30 minutes after making a cut in the skin. Perfect for purées, soups or mixing with vegetables such as Brussels sprouts and pumpkin.
- Homemade chestnut purée: Blend cooked chestnuts with a little milk or plant drink, add vanilla or cinnamon for a delicious side dish.
- Desserts with chestnuts: Use them to make chestnut cream, chestnut cake, autumn sponge cakes or fillings for tarts and pastries.
- Savoury dishes: Chestnuts pair wonderfully with chicken, pork, mushrooms and autumn vegetables. They’re also a classic ingredient in Christmas stuffing.
